Our brief bi-monthly summary, covering our latest development, user feedback and case studies.
May was the month when we revealed our software secrets, opened up our code for free download and went from a two-digit number of customers to almost 500. Again, openness and the power of sharing shows it’s strength.
At the top of an escalator at a security trade show in San Francisco, I spotted his press badge and asked him if he wanted to see a new authentication solution. He smiled, answered “Sure”, and three weeks later he had podcasted our story to thousands of listeners.
“I’m happy that you were able to meet Steve at the RSA conference. It never ceases to amaze me to see how things that are supposed to happen, happen. I am working right now to get these keys integrated into customer applications” Joel R Helgeson, Security now! listener, USA
We’ve been working around the clock to answer emails and ship YubiKeys to every corner of the world. All bits and pieces were not in place, but still the timing was perfect. Our authentication server survived the storm and performed as we expected. We’ve done our best to ensure that reference code, APIs and reports are where our customers expect it to be. In addition, we have been working behind the scenes ramping-up the production of YubiKeys, to meet the needs of a mass market.
“It took 20 minutes and 11 lines of code to integrate the YubiKey with our internal password manager system” Matt Damon, Global Security Officer, Dyson Ltd,
Within two weeks customers who had ordered their first YubiKeys from our webshop came back to sign volume orders. During the short time frame from the YubiKey arrival, the free SDK had been downloaded from our developer’s site and a successful pilot had been performed.
And some developers came back and asked us where they could upload their own code implementations.
“Thanks for the amazing product. The adoption rate is going to be high in every part of the world as long as you have a strong developer community built around it and have all the necessary documentation ready” Sanjeet Joshi, security professional, India
We have launched forum.yubico.com: The space where YubiKey developers will feed you with more open source code and freeware, soon also including the full YubiKey validation server. Feel free to share your thoughts and experiments here. By leveraging wisdom of crowds we all get smarter.
Thanks Steve. And thanks to all our new 500 customers and developers. August we will share some new really cool development projects and case studies with you.
Stay tuned!
