Protecting those at-risk through corporate social responsibility

In recent years, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts have become an integral part of businesses, providing employees a greater purpose and helping customers connect to a brand beyond just the products or services they sell. With groundbreaking solutions being released on a daily basis in the tech world, it’s our responsibility to ensure we are giving back to our communities – especially those at-risk.

Yubico has helped millions of people and thousands of businesses put an end to account takeovers over the last decade, and we have made it part of our mission to put our products in the hands of people that need it most. Whether you’re an organization or nonprofit focused on protecting human rights and freedom of speech, upholding election integrity, or furthering diversity in tech, we’re passionate about ensuring that security isn’t an obstacle standing in the way of the important work that you do. Simply put, vulnerable populations shouldn’t have to worry about their digital security.

Since our Secure It Forward program was formalized in 2021, we’ve continued to further our mission to protect those in need. We’ve donated YubiKeys to hundreds of organizations in over 20 countries including: The Anti-Defamation League, Freedom of the Press and The Legal Aid Society. Most recently, we worked with our partner at Hideez to donate 20,000 YubiKeys and provide technical support to help protect critical infrastructure in Ukraine.

Being backed by an important mission gives companies opportunities to use their expertise to extend their reach beyond their traditional customers. Today, we’re honored to partner with tech organizations like Cloudflare, Google and Microsoft who are committed to protecting those most at-risk through the donation of their products and services.

Because of these partnerships, we’re able to take a holistic approach to ensuring those who are in need of the strongest security have their bases covered. From services like Unmetered DDoS attack mitigation from Cloudflare, to up-leveled email client security from Google and Microsoft, each of these organization’s areas of expertise is integral to protecting vulnerable populations that may not have access otherwise.

I recently sat down for a conversation with Google and Microsoft, moderated by Michael Kaiser, President and CEO of Defending Digital Campaigns, to discuss how our company’s missions help drive the work we do:

If you’re an enterprise or small business, we encourage you to take a look at your mission and initiatives to see if there is a place where you can offer your products or services to a population who is in need.

If you’re a journalist, organization or nonprofit focused on protecting human rights and freedom of speech, upholding election integrity, or furthering diversity in tech, we’d love to chat with you! You can learn more about our Secure it Forward program here, including an application to be considered for a YubiKey donation.
